Michael, a Danish gangster, takes his girlfriend, Sascha, and his extended criminal family on a luxury vacation in a fancy villa in gorgeous Bodrum, Turkey. Shopping, waterparks, barbecuing, and hardcore partying fill their days and nights. Having little regard for anything or anybody outside their world, they exist in a bubble of excess that is governed by Michael’s rules - and if the code is broken, they all know that violence will follow. But when Sascha befriends a Dutchman with romantic designs on her, she toys with Michael’s authority and creates a situation that cannot end well. (Sundance Film Festival)

Holiday is notable for having zero characterisation and unjustified and unexplained plot events, while the actors and technical side are so clumsy that they border on amateurish, making you ponder whether it’s on purpose (given that it’s shown at festivals) with the intention of brutally and “realistically” showing the normal workings of a bizarrely composed group of spineless individuals on vacation. One star for being self-serving, but the only memorable thing in the film is the ejaculatory porn scene; the second star is for the puzzled interest I felt while waiting to see what the movie would come up with next.
