Joe (Bruce Willis) i Terry (Billy Bob Thornton) są słynnymi specami od rabowania banków. Teraz jednak, po latach ciężkiej pracy coraz częściej myślą o przejściu na zasłużoną emeryturę. Występując w duecie zyskali nawet przydomek "ranne ptaszki", bo zawsze stosowali tę samą metodę. W wieczór poprzedzający skok zatrzymywali kierownika banku jako zakładnika w jego własnym domu, spędzali tam noc, a rano o świcie prosili o osobiste otwarcie banku. Żadnej przemocy, pełna kultura i maximum skuteczności. Nawet zyskali sympatię ludzi. Sprawy się komplikują gdy na horyzoncie pojawia się Kate (Cate Blanchett), od tej pory zmieniają się w trio, nie do końca doskonałe. (Monolith)

A take on Bonnie and Clyde, this time in a threesome. Willis doesn't surprise, but Bob Thornton as a sensitive hypochondriac and Cate Blanchett as the woman straddling the line between the two men are flawless. The final twist is not as breathtaking and some write here, but for the sake of my beloved Cate and Thornton, I'm going to get over myself and give it four stars.

Barry Levinson attempts to bring the nostalgia of classic gangster movies into the contemporary world with the image of the characters, music, cars and props, but his effort is in vain. It’s as if the director is too conservative and the current period is too far removed for him to connect with nostalgia with any sense of detachment. The two lead actors don’t play “likable characters with minor flaws” but fools who don’t deserve the sympathies of the (again, amazing) Cate Blanchett. The humour and dialogue, which are supposed to play a big role here, are VERY weak and even the satirical undertones with the media coverage of events are half-baked. Given the creative team, Bandits is a disappointment. Only the aforementioned Cate Blanchett drags the film up to three stars.
