The Amazon Rainforest is currently one of world’s largest and most diverse primeval forests. However, due to logging activities, it is disappearing at an alarming rate, and, together with it, many endangered species and indigenous peoples that call the rainforest home. Kamanja Panashekung, one of the area’s native inhabitants, leads viewers into corners that only a very few in the world have the opportunity to ever reach. This arboreal paradise offers a meditative experience evoked by the impressive images, accompanied by the sounds of native birds and rustling treetops. Kamanja invites the viewer to join him on a boat ride down the Amazon, during which one can meet a grinning sloth or an anaconda several metres in length. Only at the end of the excursion is it possible to understand the incredibly close relationship between humans and nature that predominates here – when one reaches that part of the rainforest that human machines have penetrated, and all that remains is an intimidating, silent wasteland and emptiness.
