François Truffaut's well-known ward, Jean-Pierre Léaud, plays a miserable young man who has empty pockets and bad luck with women. However, he finds a job over the Christmas period that will help him with his financial worries, but most importantly he will have an interesting chance of getting physically closer to women. The witty and provocative part of the storyline, which is unfortunately crammed into the middle of this medium-length movie, I could have easily watched fleshed out into a full-length feature.
