Shi yi

The film is divided into two story threads: The first story involves TV producer Cheng-ho as he is at the top of his game. His career is taking off, producing highly rated reality shows, and he is living together with his beautiful fiancee. But after he picks up a red envelope in a park during his morning jog, Cheng-ho begins to experience nightmares in an old mansion from a previous era. They become so relentless (popping up into his waking life) that he is coerced by a co-worker to visit a psychic, as she tells him that the nightmares are actually memories from a previous life. The second story focuses on high school senior Yin-yin, who for as long as she can remember, sees things that should not "exist." In other words, she's a ghost whisperer! These visions become more frequent, leaving her quite adrift and alone (even her best friend and single mother cannot help her). She becomes more of a recluse as the visitations stifle her until she cannot ignore it any longer. This turning point gives her the encourage to find out the root of these visitations and to end it once and for all! The mystery of Cheng-ho's previous incarnation and Yin-yin's visitations culminate in an inexplicable way. (Hawaii International Film Festival)
