Book 1: Moon (2018) (S01)

angielski Well, I quite liked this. So I can therefore forgive the poor and sometimes choppy animation (really bad FPS) and sometimes the jokes were too puerile. After all, the pretty decent narrative of the show has an interesting setting, and there are some good characters. I thought that the female characters were especially very likable (and it does not matter if there was Rayla, Claudia, or maybe aunt Amaya on screen - they were all charming in their own way). I am curious to see where they will take the narrative next (if it will be something as epic and brilliant as Avatar: The Last Airbender) and after the first season, the prevailing feeling is one of satisfaction, 7.8/10. Book 2: Sky (2019) (S02)

angielski With the second season, I thought a lot about whether it was better than the first. I found it much more predictable, the jokes did not seem to suit some moments as well as they did before, and there were not as many memorable scenes. Still, I binge-watched it in the morning and look forward to watching more future episodes. 7.5/10. ()

Book 3: Sun (2019) (S03)

angielski The third season was probably the most fun I have had so far. Part of the reason for that is all the beautiful and rich flora and fauna of Xadia - it was just obvious that someone had really gone to town designing this fantasy world. It is also due to the rather well-crafted and, for me, interesting final conflict, which I thoroughly enjoyed (Gandalf, are the eagles coming?!? No, those are...) and I am going to add points for the decent and entertaining romantic subplot, which, like the characters, I found very likable... Sure it was terribly clichéd in places, a lot of things were again predictable some episodes in advance, and the whole anime series is so inoffensive that I would hand it over to the PC Babies with a clear conscience. However, despite that, I surprisingly did not mind it at all! The fantasy genre, for me, has to have an enchanting atmosphere above all else - this show has that. The characters are still likable and fun, and they develop the way I imagined they would. The animation also gets a little better every season in my opinion. Keep it up! 8.4/10. ()

Book 4: Earth (2022) (S04)

angielski Book 3 gave the first part of the story a satisfying conclusion, so I was quite worried about what the next story would build on. When I saw in the trailer that there would be a 2-year time jump, and the series would have to deal with the pitfalls connected with the passage of time during which certain things occurred that the viewer didn’t have a chance to see, I got increasingly concerned about how the series would follow up on the story and whether it would maintain the good impression I have of it. Moreover, I wasn’t exactly thrilled by the fact that the writers decided to revive an already defeated villain (this is not a spoiler, it's in the trailer + the very first scene of the first episode...). After all, I still remember Palpatine in Star Wars and how lame it seemed. To be honest, the first two episodes or so really weren't that great. I had to get used to the new circumstances and some twists that had happened in the meantime. Luckily, everything was properly explained and described. In fact, not that much had happened and most things were just a logical consequence of the developments from the previous series. On the other hand, the humor didn’t really work for me at first. I seriously cringed at how corny some of the jokes and situations were. However, the writers somehow managed to keep me interested in the series, and things gradually started tangling up and the show was becoming more than good again. If there's one thing this series does well, it's creating an atmosphere, which makes you feel like something important is going on. It also does a great job of working with the characters, their motivations, and their problems, which are easily understandable, and you can empathize with most of the characters. Plus, no character is explicitly good or evil, they're just human (elves, dragons...) with their flaws, insecurities, and dreams, striving for what they think is right. As a starting point for the next part of the story, it eventually worked for me. Towards the end, I got to the point where I was literally devouring the episodes, and I would have loved to be able to watch the next season straight away... 7.5/10 ()

Book 5: Ocean (2023) (S05)

angielski This season is probably the weakest one so far. There were moments when it felt like everything was dragging unnecessarily, and I never quite felt that sense of importance. Maybe it was because I watched it late at night when I was already quite tired, but even then, the series couldn't quite capture that feeling when you finish an episode and immediately want to dive into the next one to see what happens next. The highlights for me were the visit to the pirate city and the subsequent chase with Finnegrin, although even that didn't compare to the best parts of the series (or the previous season). The actual season finale, which I was hoping would leave me eagerly awaiting the continuation, was a huge letdown. The underwater battle didn't feel epic, it was more on the boring side, and at times it felt a bit cheap (those tentacles didn't help). The second storyline didn't add much either, mostly just confirming that executing traitors of states had its significance in certain situations (maybe so they couldn't plot more mischief). Even the emotional development and relationships between the characters didn't quite pull me in this time. We've known for a while that the humor in this series, largely based on childish wordplay, isn't its strongest point and can sometimes be cringe-worthy. Despite all that, it's still an above-average fantasy series that occasionally brings up interesting topics and surprises with some good ideas (like Finnegrin's ship). However, this time around, the pacing felt slow, nothing felt particularly strong, epic, or important. That's why I can't give it more than a 5.5/10. ()
