Demonolodzy Ed i Lorraine Warren chcą za wszelką cenę uniemożliwić Annabelle dokonywanie kolejnych okrutnych czynów. Przywożą opętaną lalkę do swojego domu i zamykają w pokoju, w którym jest też wiele innych niezwykłych przedmiotów. Układają ją za poświęconym szkłem i proszą księdza o udzielenie błogosławieństwa. Jednak rok później nadchodzi zupełnie bezbożna noc. The third movie logically picks the story up where first two left it off with the only difference being that instead of a ghost-type of horror movie the creators made it into something almost like a soft teen horror movie which is more funny than scary. Despite that, this movie deserved the three stars rating for the unobtrusive and inventive shift. It is slightly different than what you would expect, but considering it is the third installment it is a step in the right direction.

The opening scene with the Warrens gives a good start to the third Annabelle, lending it the true
Conjuring drive. The rest of the film is a masterfully crafted ghost story with child characters, which
works well with the environment, especially the Warrens’ basement containing a collection of
haunted artefacts. However, the ghosts are overly harmless - even the werewolf turns into smoke
when slapped with a guitar and the threat has passed. This “safe” haunting makes the movie
accessible to a larger audience, which is nice, but it may be a drawback for some.

Why is this even happening? Gary Dauberman makes his debut in the 3rd entry in the Conjuring Universe and it's the weakest link, much like this year's La Llorona. Nothing happens for an hour and once the creatures start coming to life in the final third, it's at least watchable, but there's no atmosphere or thrills to speak of. It was filmed in an almost made-for-TV way and I hardly enjoyed it at all. 40%.

With this The Conjuring universe has entered the phase of mass production. It’s competently made, eager, sleek and with pretty teenage actresses, but what good is that when you can experience similarly harmless horror in a traffic jam. Recommended by 8 out 10 film fans as a bed-time story for kids 6 and older.
