In 1939, the longtime girlfriend of a daredevil Army Air Corps test pilot is in an accident that renders her comatose. Grief-stricken, he volunteers to be frozen alive for a year in a cryogenics experiment, in the hopes that she will have recovered by the time he is ready to be thawed out. But his body remains in a deep freeze for 50 years until two children accidentally revive him. As the pilot attempts to cope with all the technological and cultural developments that have occurred during his sleep, he hurriedly tries to find the scientist who froze him and the woman he left behind. I gave this romance four stars. Especially because it had Mel Gibson in a sort of movie that I haven’t seen him in yet, and after a long time, too. It’s actually one of the reasons I like Mel so much and his character was really good in this movie. It was sufficiently natural, but it could be realistic in the future, too. And the whole thing was carried out in a very positive atmosphere, which was exactly what I needed before my final state exams.

A very nice combination of romance and slightly naive science fiction. Mel Gibson is traditionally great, and little Elijah Wood is funny. Plus, it's one of my mom's favorite movies and that affects you too. 75%
