Quite logically, I saw the Steve Martin version first and enjoyed it. But when I found out that there was also the original film, I realized that Steve Martin is just a clown next to Spencer Tracy, who didn't bring much more to the role. The older film is funny, it has emotions, and successful situational comedy where nobody has to goof off.
