Russian Doll

The authors of the series have really outdone themselves. The first two episodes bummed me out so much that if it hadn’t been for Natasha Lyonne in the lead role, whom I love especially for her vocal expression, I would have probably quit watching. But that would have been a shame because the writing significantly improved in the episodes that followed. It was no longer boring, and I started enjoying myself. I can't help feeling that the creators had been putting me on all along. (16.05.2019)

The initial episode didn't convince me twice, the first round still seemed interesting to me, but then nothing really happened that could catch my attention, so both stars go to Natascha Lyonne because hearing her voice is pure joy for me. Plus, every time I see her, I remember the wolf from "Just Wait!", similarly to how he can casually hang a cigarette in the corner of his mouth, and that never gets old for me. (15.05.2019)

Well, yes, apparently I only watch the show because Natascha Lyonne is in it, I can't have any other reason for it, considering that out of twenty-eight minutes, only about seven were interesting to me. Despite the short duration of each episode, I would expect a more interesting plot and I would gladly skip several uncreative deaths to save time on it. (15.05.2019)

I don't know, maybe the creators managed to fool me with their constant repetition, but in the case of the third episode, I had a feeling that I was actually enjoying it. It was probably unexpectedly complex (yes, I mean that it wasn't just a cycle of party-death-party-death......) and mainly because of the ending, which does promise some sort of progression in the story. I was considering why the fourth episode is in red numbers unlike the previous ones, but I didn't figure it out because it was actually just a repetition of the introductory episode with a different main character. Yes, I also added an extra star, but it was only for breaking the routine. (16.05.2019)

Finally, I have witnessed an episode that I truly enjoyed and felt that the cycle has been broken and therefore the story has progressed. The character Alan significantly rejuvenated the plot, I enjoyed exploring various theories, and it appears that the collaboration between Nadia and Alan could greatly benefit the series. In this case, I had a lot of fun. The collaboration between both notorious zombies works exactly according to my expectations and I am genuinely interested why some objects and Alan's fish disappear. It's a pity that the series wasn't as lively from the beginning, I wouldn't have to save on stars then. (16.05.2019)

No, who would have expected such a turnaround after a slow start? Certainly not me, and yet, it happened. The seventh episode was excellent, the creators made sure of it, mainly by making it so psycho. I was quite bored during some of the previous episodes, but now I'm glad I stuck with the series. The creators succeeded with the conclusion of the series just like the previous episode so I'm really sorry that the beginning was so uninteresting. The tough fight against the time loop was excellent, different time dimensions were handled brilliantly, and now I'm not sure if I didn't watch the first half of the series in some boring parallel world.
