Golden Earring: Don't Stop the Show

Without a doubt, it is the most famous and most successful Dutch rock band: Golden Earring, consisting of the foursome Barry Hay, Cesar Zuiderwijk, Rinus Gerritsen and George Kooymans. Recently, they celebrated their thirtieth anniversary, but the band is still alive and kicking. With successful hit songs like Radar love, Twilight zone and the American number one hit single When the lady smiles, they reaped world fame. Some say they could have accomplished even more by becoming the most famous imported band in America. However, the big step to live and work permanently in the United States was never made, because every time homesickness drove the four musicians back home. In the film, only former band members talk about the sometimes difficult early years, as the current Earring members did not feel like a nostalgic retrospective. In Don't Stop the Show, the music predominates, with here and there some old archival footage and bizarre, outdated video clips. Because they keep turning out new hit songs, the four men just keep going. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
