W Alpach na granicy niemiecko-austriackiej zostaje odnalezione dziwacznie ułożone ciało martwego chłopca. Do zbadania sprawy zostają przydzieleni Niemka Ellie i Austriak Gedeon. Wkrótce śledczy znajdują kolejne miejsca zbrodni usiane mrożącymi krew w żyłach symbolami i ciałami ofiar sprofanowanymi po śmierci, co przywodzi im na myśl pogańskie rytuały. Wszystko wydaje się częścią większego, złowieszczego planu. Ellie czuje się pod coraz większą presją, aby zrozumieć motywy obłąkanych sprawców i ich powstrzymać. Polowanie prowadzi partnerów w mroczne doliny, gdzie wciąż praktykowane są archaiczne alpejskie zwyczaje. Tam odkrywają paranoiczny świat mordercy. (Canal+)

A derivation of the Scandinavian project The Bridge. An intelligent, brutal, psychopathic serial killer, a mismatched pair of investigators of the opposite sex, cross-border cooperation of two neighboring state's criminal cases, and an attempt to create a dark and mysterious atmosphere. In contrast to The Bridge, Pagan Peak holds back, is more sober, and less flashy and the initial atmosphere also partially disappears with each subsequent episode. However, it easily maintains three stars. Overall impression: 60%.

Pagan Peak is a result of a great cooperation between the Bavarians and the Austrians. A perfect crime series with just the right gloomy atmosphere which is a good fit for our gloomy days. Moreover it features a great duo of actors where Julia Jentsch represents the German side and Nicholas Ofczarek the Austrian side. By the way both of them with flying colors. Moreover the investigation taking place near Salzburg and Berchtesgaden offers quite interesting panoramas. One of the characters even goes to Czechia for a trip. For me it was a great series. It is a variation to Scandinavian crime series but it is still full of ideas and the ending is original, and therefore it was able to hook me. And I do like this type of series or movies.
