The Madness of George III

(nagranie teatralne)

Opisy(1)

It’s 1786 and King George III is the most powerful man in the world. But his behaviour is becoming increasingly erratic as he succumbs to fits of lunacy. With the King’s mind unravelling at a dramatic pace, ambitious politicians and the scheming Prince of Wales threaten to undermine the power of the Crown, and expose the fine line between a King and a man. angielski The state of monarchy and the state of lunacy share a frontier. If, after you have finished watching the recorded theater performance on TV, you feel like standing up and applauding, then there is probably no need to add anything else, because the task of transferring the theater atmosphere onto the screen is simply a difficult, thankless task due to the different approaches to acting and directing, as well as the loss of the audience-ensemble dynamic. After all, many excellent stage productions have been ruined by poorly executed recording. However, that is not the case here and although it is true that in the first half I would applaud much more enthusiastically, "Bennett's Amadeus" is worth the attention, despite the indistinct ending. And no, it's not “just" about how Gatiss handled such a rewarding and hugely demanding role. ()
