Zbliżają się święta, więc Hawthorne College, jak co roku o tej porze, robi się pusty. Ale nie wszyscy opuszczają kampus. Riley Stone i jej siostry ze stowarzyszenia studenckiego – atletka Marty, rebeliantka Kris i smakoszka Jesse – przygotowują się do serii przyjęć z okazji świąt. Tymczasem na terenie kampusu pojawia się tajemniczy, zamaskowany morderca, który zabija młode kobiety jedną po drugiej. Kiedy liczba ofiar rośnie, Riley i jej przyjaciółki zaczynają się zastanawiać, komu mogą ufać. Podejrzani są wszyscy mężczyźni. Chłopak Marty – Nate, nowy crush Riley – Landon, a nawet uznany profesor Gelson. Kimkolwiek jest morderca, wkrótce przyjdzie mu odkryć, że dzisiejsze młode kobiety nie mają najmniejszego zamiaru być niczyimi ofiarami. (UIP)

It was already clear from the trailer that Black Christmas wasn't going to be a groundbreaking genre film, but I was kind of expecting it to have a touch of Scream or Halloween. Wrong! Black Christmas plays on something else (maybe even better) through the mystery line, and this somewhat far-fetched level brings the film to its knees. I also found the acting quite weak – at times I almost didn't care who survived the killing spree. Considering the (nowadays) popular pursuit of gender correctness, I am not at all surprised that a similar horror film was made, by a director with a central female cast and ubiquitous girl power. But I felt that the film pushed the envelope a little too hard in this regard, so the whole message became annoying until it came to naught. On the other hand, I don't want to completely condemn Black Christmas, as it does have some decent scenes and scares, but I was quite disappointed compared to my initial expectations.

Well, you won't get much blood in this PG-13 slasher, but you certainly can feel the overly pretentious script bleeding to death. I have a number of problems with this movie as a whole, and especially its final meaning, which I could write about, but I don't want to make waves. However, I consider this type of one-sided views à la "only I am right and I have to shove my truth down EVERYONE'S throats" as very ignorant, vulgar, and even dangerous. Especially in connection with the director's excuses, who claimed that the audience the movie was intended for wasn't men (so she alienated half the audience in advance) and that it is necessary for as many young girls as possible to see it. Fortunately, the movie is so bad and ridiculously laughable in every way that even people with the IQ of a pumpkin couldn't possibly take it seriously. What a total garbage.
