angielski This documentary about the making of The Hitcher, which is available among the bonus features on official DVD releases, was made on the occasion of the film’s first DVD release in Germany and was subsequently included as a bonus feature with further releases in other countries. Jörg Bauer’s team managed to get all of the film’s key creative personnel in front of the camera and they discuss in detail the various aspects of the creation of the masterpiece, which opened up a promising future for screenwriter Eric Red at the time. Unfortunately, the world was not ready for his genre experiments back then. A decade or two later he could have been a great rival to Quentin Tarantino or an American fellow traveller on the wave of Korean genre mash-ups, but in the 1980s the films based on his screenplays and his creative work were considered to be too weird and the resulting woeful box-office receipts sealed his professional fate.
