Opisy(1)
“Double espresso with an extra shot,” orders Ye-jin, a high-school student who captures the attention of barista Hae-soo. Pushed by a desire to get closer to the mysterious girl, Ye-jin soon starts to help out regularly at the café and the duo builds an unexpectedly strong bond. But the behaviour of her new girlfriend implies that Hae-soo has a complicated past. Who exactly is Hae-soo? Both women hide their secrets not only from the world, but also from each other. An intimate insight into South Korean society ruled by rigid traditions, where two women try to create their own space. But their idea of a café paradise is just as fragile as cherry blossoms when the summer comes. One wants a family life, the other hasn’t even finished school yet. The falling petals turn Kim Jun-Sik’s debut into a portrait of a modern society where it’s not possible to function and be different at the same time. (Mezipatra Queer Film Festival)
