Paulette (Juliette Binoche) wraz z małżonkiem prowadzą prywatną szkołę dla dziewcząt, w której nastolatki uczą się, jak być perfekcyjną żoną i panią domu. Niestety po nagłej śmierci męża Paulette odkrywa, że szkoła jest na skraju bankructwa i ona sama musi wziąć sprawy w swoje ręce. Sytuacji nie ułatwiają feminizm i rewolucja seksualna, które z dnia na dzień zmieniają społeczeństwo i świat dookoła. Aby ratować szkołę, Paulette łączy siły ze swoją pierwszą miłością – André (Edouard Baer), ekscentryczną szwagierką – Gilberte (Yolande Moreau) oraz surową zakonnicą Marie-Thérèse (Noémie Lvovsky). Nieoczekiwanie jednak sama zaczyna mieć wątpliwości co do własnych poglądów i przekonań. Czy to możliwe, żeby miała stać się… wyzwoloną kobietą? (Kino Świat)

How to Be a Good Wife has at first glance an enticing premise and a really promising cast of three typologically completely different actresses: Juliette Binoche, Yolande Moreau, and Noémie Lvovsky, but it all falls apart due to a futile story and untapped potential, both in the characters and the setting, which is a real shame. The message framing is obvious and could easily have found its place in today's glut of feminist-themed films, but I still felt it could have been made in a more lively and humorous way. The final dance and music number had its charm, but it didn't fit the concept of the film at all. Better two stars!
