A blarney-spewing Hiberian adventurer Michael O'hara rescues Elsa Bannister from attackers in Central Park, whereupon she hires him to accompany her on a yacht cruise with her successful-but-crippled lawyer husband Arthur. Orson Welles sometimes demonstrates his genius, but unfortunately only sometimes. The ending is especially captivating, as well as the work with the actors. Of course, this is a film about his character, but also about the character portrayed by Rita Hayworth. Under his direction, she delivers a great performance, maybe one of her best. She is one of the most frightening femme fatales.
