Sharlto Copley as the famous eco-terrorist Unabomber! Those who have seen the series about the Unabomber will appreciate the film less. I went into the film completely unfamiliar and I have to say I'm not all that happy with this biopic adaptation. Sharlto Copley puts on more or less a one man show and performs very well. As a probe into the soul of yet another twisted individual with a distaste for modern technology, it works in part, but the film definitely fails on the crime and disturbing side. The film focuses a lot on the main character's voice-overs, survival in the wilderness, and planning sabotages, which would have been enough for about half an hour, but to kill an entire film in two hours in that style is downright painful. If this was one of the greatest manhunts in FBI history, it's quite disappointing that there's no proper detective to hunt him down, in fact the viewer doesn't even get to enjoy proper explosions and dead bodies, so for me it's quite disappointing. They could have done a few things differently with this movie and It could have been boring. However, I think everything works as it should. They have created a truly immersive experience for the audience. It is remarkable how Sharlto Copley can carry the whole movie for two hours and manages to keep audiences captivated with his committed and compelling performance in a psychologically difficult role.
