Biografia

Manuel Nieto belongs to the new generation of Uruguayan filmmakers. In 2006 he wrote and directed his first feature film, La perrera (The Dog Hound), which screened at Films in Progress 2005, was shown in Horizontes Latinos in 2006 and won the Tiger Award at Rotterdam Festival. Next came El lugar del hijo (The Militant, 2013) which, as well as writing and directing, he also produced. The film premiered at Toronto Festival and won, among others, the FIPRESCI Prize at Havana Festival. El empleado y el patrón (The Employer and the Employee) is his third feature film.
