Pedro Costa

Costa abandoned his history studies at the School of Humanities and enrolled in Lisbon’s Higher School for Theatre and Film. He started his filmmaking career as assistant director to Jorge Silva Melo and João Botelho. His work is characterised by the use of mini-DV digital cameras and it can be considered a cinema inspired in the concept of visual anthropology. His film Colossal Youth (2006) he was presented in the Cannes Film Festival Official Selection, and Ne change rien was selected by the 2009 Cannes Director’s Fortnight.
