Akihiko Shiota

Born in 1961 in Kyoto, Japan, Shiota Akihiko begins making 8 mm films with Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Kunitoshi Manda while studying at Rikkyo University. He then studies screenwriting under Atsushi Yamatoya and directs two features in 1999: Moonlight Whispers, selected at Locarno, and Don't Look Back. They are followed by films such as Harmful Insect (2001), Yomigaeri (2002), Dororo (2007), and I JustWannaHug You (2014).
