Danny Hiller is an established presence in the British stage and screen industry, having directed a number of critically acclaimed theatre and TV productions and devoting much of his career to commissioning, developing and directing original works throughout the UK. As a BBC trained director, Danny has made his mark upon the British television industry, directing a number of prominent programs including 'Brookside', 'Peak Practice' with Kevin Whately and Amanda Burton, 'Taggart', 'The Bill' and 'Silent Witness'. In 1996 Danny directed the acclaimed BBC feature-length television drama 'Trip Trap', a story of domestic and sexual violence in the context of a supposedly respectable middle-class household. Attracting an audience of 10 million viewers, this program received a BAFTA nomination for best film, as well as similar nominations in both the French Film and Television Festival and the Celtic Film Festival. The success of 'Trip Trap' was followed up by the six part drama series 'Insiders' starring Tom Bell, Bill Nighy and Peter Howitt and the acclaimed BBC film 'The Gift' starring Amanda Burton as a terminally ill cancer patient. Danny later directed the drama series 'Psychos' and again garnered a BAFTA nomination for Best Television Series. In 2000/01 Danny directed the psychological drama 'Pretending to be Judith' a feature-length film screened on ITV. He later worked as a Development Producer for the BBC, commissioning, writing, and producing for BBC Drama. As a theatre director, Danny has travelled throughout the UK, directing a number of acclaimed works at The Playhouse Theatre, The Cambridge Arts Theatre, numerous Edinburgh Festival productions, and at the London Fringe Festival. He also directed the original west end production of 'Blood Brothers' at the Lyric Theatre and 'Trafford Tanzi' starring Toyah Wilcox, at the Mermaid Theatre. Danny has also directed internationally, with shows in Paris, Dublin and in Sydney with the then-emerging actor Russell Crowe.
