Born in Tehran, Safi Yazdanian studied cinema at the University of Arts and started his career as a film critic and a columnist. Safi's debut feature was produced by Ali Mosaffa and with him in the main role along with Leila Hatami. The film premiered in Busan International film festival where it was granted the FIPRESCI's Award and went on to over 20 international film festivals afterwards and was selected as the best film of the year in a poll from the Iranian film critics.
