Biografia

Her parents were the General Jesús Aguirre and Emma Juárez. When she was just a 14-year-old school student, she won a beauty contest organized by the cinematographic producer clasa Films Mundiales. Her first cinematographic incursion was in the comedy and science fiction film El sexo fuerte, directed by Emilio Gómez Muriel, where her sister Alma Rosa Aguirre also appeared. The film director Julio Bracho offered her the leading role in the film Don Simón de Lira (1946), acting next to Joaquín Pardavé. In Alfredo B. Crevenna’s film Algo flota sobre el agua (1947), the musicians Zacarías Gómez Urquiza and Manuel Esperón got together to compose exclusively for her the song "Flor de azalea", theme song of the film.

Her cinematographic career constitutes 50 films of different genres, such as comedy, drama, romance, action, musicals and fantasy films; she has shared credits with celebrities of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, like Jorge Negrete, Pedro Infante, Dolores del Río, Silvia Pinal, Ignacio López Tarso, Pedro Armendáriz, Mario Moreno Cantinflas, Marga López, Julio Alemán, Joaquín Cordero and Mauricio Garcés, among others. Elsa Aguirre has explored other areas, such as radio, personal presentations and palenques. She has received various prizes and recognitions for her trajectory.
