Vibeke Ringen studied documentary filmmaking at Volda University College, and was educated as a director at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. She has worked as a director since the mid-nineties, primarily directing various television series' and other programs for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation NRK, but also directing series' such as the soap-opera for commercial network TV2.
She has also directed several documentaries and short films like Grønne familier (1997), The Funeral (1999) and Prima vare (2005), before she made her feature film debut in 2006 with the romantic comedy Maria's Men, followed by her second feature only a year later; the family film Svein and the Rat and the UFO-Mystery (2007). Ringen has also directed several episodes of the immensely popular drama series' Himmelblå (2008-2010).
