Biografia

Robert Rossen started his career writing socially conscious films noirs that provided implicit left-wing commentary on the anti-communist investigations taking place in Hollywood. He moved into directing in the late 1940s – his third film, All the King’s Men (1949), won the Academy Award for Best Picture – before being blacklisted for his association with the Communist Party. This decision was overturned after Rossen identified 57 current or former communists, and he successfully resumed his career.
