Mike McCoy

Biografia

McCoy has amassed vast experience as a successful racer, stuntman, producer, director and technology entrepreneur. He has directed highly cinematic ads for Toyota, Kia, Lexus, BMW, NASCAR, Pirelli and BF Goodrich. Other directorial credits include spots and a documentary short for the U.S. Navy, promotional videos for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and the TV movie "Hot Wheels: Fearless at the 500," part of the toy brand's much-discussed "For Real" campaign, which convinced many viewers there was a secret test facility where famous drivers performed impossible feats behind the wheel.

McCoy says he was "born on a motorcycle." Receiving a bike for his first birthday, he dropped his training wheels at age 3 and started racing at age 4. After this early start, McCoy grew to become one of the most successful motorcycle racers of his generation. He won multiple championships, most notably the Baja 500 and Baja 1000.

After a string of injuries took their toll, McCoy retired from professional racing to pursue a career in the film industry. He spent years working in almost every capacity for Joe Pytka, director of Space Jam and a frequent collaborator with Michael Jackson. Transitioning from production into stunts, McCoy quickly became one of the top stuntmen in Hollywood. He has worked with such notable directors as Tony Scott, Rob Cohen and John McTiernan.

In 2004, McCoy leveraged his experiences in the film industry by producing the critically acclaimed 2005 feature Dust to Glory. This documentary chronicled the legendary Baja 1000, an annual off-road race that attracts hundreds of racers in souped-up machines as well as thousands of fans.

Paralleling his success in racing and movies, McCoy has enjoyed a distinguished career as entrepreneur and executive. In 2002, he founded the technology firm Sample Digital, Inc. The company has become a premier provider of digital media software and encoding services to clients such as Disney, Sony, Universal, Paramount, Intel, Microsoft, Movielink and many others. In 2007, Sample Digital consummated a roll-up transaction to become the largest single provider of digital dailies, encoding and production workflow services for the television and film industry.

McCoy is the co-founder of Bandito Brothers, a full-service media company that creates, produces, manages and distributes audio-visual content. Bringing together filmmakers, athletes and technologists, Bandito Brothers strives to redefine the studio of the future.
