Biografia

Born in Bologna, Italy, Alessandro Carloni studied literature, art and music. At a young age he was torn between wanting to become a writer and an artist, eventually gravitating toward animated movies, where his love for storytelling and visual art merged, harmoniously.

Carloni has worked on several feature films for DreamWorks Animation, including 2014's "How to Train Your Dragon 2" (as co-head of story), 2011's KUNG FU PANDA 2 (as story artist), 2010's "How to Train Your Dragon" (as head of story), 2008's KUNG FU PANDA (as supervising animator and story artist), 2006's "Over the Hedge" (as story artist and animator) and 2003's "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas" (as animator).

Before DreamWorks Animation, Carloni worked in leadership roles in various media and at numerous studios all over the world. He worked in Denmark as an Animation Supervisor and Sculptor for the feature film "A Fish Tale." In Germany Carloni was the lead animator for the Warner Bros.-affiliated studio Munich-Animation, where he co-directed and was the Animation Director for the short film "The Shark and the Piano Player," with his friend Gabriele Pennacchioli, which won over 15 awards at festivals worldwide. In Italy, France and England, Carloni directed numerous commercials and music videos for international stars, and co-created the music video for Busta Rhymes and Mariah Carey's "You Know I Got It," which was nominated for an MTV award for Best Rap Video of the Year.
