Biografia

After studying screenwriting at La Fémis, Alice Winocour directed three short films that won many international awards (among them Kitchen, selected as part of the Official Competition in the 2005 Cannes Film Festival). She co-wrote several feature films such as Ordinary People by Vladimir Perisic (Critics’ Week, Cannes 2009) as well as Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s Mustang (Directors’ Fortnight, Cannes 2015), for which she, along with the director, won the 2016 César for Best Original Screenplay, and which represented France at the Oscars in 2016. In 2011, she directed her first feature film, Augustine, with Vincent Lindon, Soko and Chiara Mastroianni (International Critics’ Week, Cannes 2012, Toronto 2012, nominated for the Best First Film César). Her second feature film, Maryland, starring Matthias Schoenaerts and Diane Kruger, played at Un certain regard in 2015. Proxima, with Eva Green and Matt Dillon, received a special mention at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival and the Jury Award at the 2019 San Sebastian Film Festival.
