Tarzan's Magic Fountain (1949)

angielski The first Tarzan with Lex Barker has one virtue - it's quite entertaining. It's nothing great, but for most of the movie, you feel like something is always happening. Even though the story isn't particularly original, it still works quite well, and it even has a funny point, although logically it doesn't work. A pretty good entry for the new actor who replaced Weissmuller, who had become somewhat stiff.

Ten Seconds to Hell (1959)

angielski A film with a very interesting subject. Six guys after the war have only one job - to defuse unexploded bombs. It's not exactly a safe job, so they need to get some insurance. The last man standing gets the package. But suddenly money seems like a pretty good prospect, friendships go by the wayside and people start dying. It’s good, unnecessarily relationship-focused outside the group, but good.

Frauen für Zellenblock 9 (1977)

angielski If you like movies where women are hurt, then this is the movie for you. It's not over the top in what you see, but it's quite violent and some scenes take you by surprise. Jesús Franco did a good job with this. Still, it's more for a niche audience, and not everyone will appreciate it. I almost wished it were grittier, considering the creators made some effort in that direction.

Tarzan and the Mermaids (1948)

angielski The last Tarzan film where Johnny Weissmuller still plays the role, and it's kind of an awkward farewell, mainly because Johnny isn't really there. This is about different characters and that's a shame. The film fails to captivate as much, although it tries to make up for it a bit with the finale, and there are a few well-executed scenes - especially the one with the octopus.

Flight for Freedom (1943)

angielski The film is essentially a classic tragic romance, somewhat in the style of Casablanca, but certainly not with the same emotional intensity. However, what gives the film a little extra is the fact that it's intertwined with flying and also with the role of women. The actors portrayed their roles so well that they at least deserve that slight above-average rating.

Erasing Eden (2016)

angielski This isn't exactly the kind of movie that gets me excited. I quite like movies with self-destructive protagonists, but the heroine of this film is inherently unpleasant, to the point where I'm not really interested in how her "martyrdom" ends or what the finale will be like. It plays too much on artistic effect.

Die Sex-Abenteuer der drei Musketiere (1971)

angielski A parody of The Three Musketeers? What's more, an erotic parody of The Three Musketeers? That connection doesn't sound good, and it's not. As a comedy, it's tragic; as a plot-driven film, it's also tragic. The Musketeers are only here because they're dressed as such. Overall, it's rather a sad spectacle, with the occasional nudity here and there to alleviate the boredom.

Wokół Caprice (1967)

angielski It's not the greatest spy comedy, but there were moments when I genuinely enjoyed myself. Doris Day is fine, but I found Richard Harris much more entertaining; he showcased both his comedic and dramatic potential here. The overall plot is pleasantly twisted, but at times, it has some good build-up, whether in humor or action. But it’s all modest.

Tarzan and the Huntress (1947)

angielski It's an environmental film about how Tarzan decides to stop evil hunters who want to capture animals for the zoo and take them away. It works quite well, and I can relate to the idea because animals shouldn't be unnecessarily hunted for zoos if there's another option. It’s quite action-packed, but not particularly funny.

Caprice (2015)

angielski When they don't give you a role, write it yourself. Emmanuel Mouret did just that, and it resulted in a romantic comedy, or at least something that somewhat resembles one. If it weren't for the two leads, this movie wouldn't even make much sense to watch. Those two carry it, and thanks to them, it's at least average, albeit with a grain of salt.
