Necrotongue

Normally I avoid family films like the plague, but this time I didn't succeed. I'm not entirely sure what the target audience was. The story was so weird that I just couldn't figure it out. I suppose it was intended for parents and children, but teenagers would think it was lame and pathetic, and I’m not quite sure about the younger ones... The only thing that amused me was the puffy gazelle.

Despite occasional disappointments, I'm giving Season 6 four stars. I have to highlight the character development of Aunt Ruth who became my favorite character over the course of the season. As expected, Martin and Louise's relationship followed a kind of sine wave. Bert gradually stopped annoying me. The same can’t be said about Joe Penhale, though. He got on my nerves pretty much throughout the whole season. Last but not least, I should mention Morwenna, who made it all the way up to the second place on my list of favorites.

I enjoyed this episode just as much as the previous one, but for different reasons. The atmosphere of the finale was much more serious and intense, which was a nice change. However, the creators' attempt to create suspense fell flat because any regular viewer could predict the outcome of the "tense" situation. I appreciated the departure of that annoying character and couldn't care less about the clock!

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this episode. Even with Penhale's frequent appearances, I didn't feel the urge to strangle him. The medal ceremony at the schoolyard was fantastic, and the speech was even better. Mrs. Tishell was a highlight for me this time, but I missed Aunt Ruth and was disappointed by the presence of Martin's annoyingly irritating mother.

One Noomi Rapace in the film would be enough for me, so I wasn't all that excited about seeing her in multiple roles. In the end, it turned out my concerns were unnecessary, even though the difference between the sisters was mostly just the hairstyle. I was pleased about the film's decent atmosphere and tension. The premise was interesting, the action wasn't bad either and Glenn Close was a great choice for the role. True, the gaping logic holes were sometimes almost terrifying (Get out of my way or else I'll shoot him with a gun that only works in his hand.), but despite many reservations I had a pretty good time, so 4*-.

Too bad the filmmakers couldn't avoid moralizing and the increasingly trendy fight to save the planet. It's not that I'm against protecting the Earth, but the more it's shoved down my throat, the more it gets on my nerves. The beginning of the film was okay. I was just about to get bored, but then Christoph Waltz stepped in, and his character was great as usual. I also liked the bossy Vietnamese dissident, and the film seemed to catch its second wind. I just wasn’t impressed by the journey among the Norwegian hippies.

I don't usually give a high rating to films with a calculated emotional impact on the sensitive viewer, but this was an exception. I really enjoyed Claire Foy's performance. I liked how the otherwise dramatic story was laced with dark humor. Most importantly, I was able to totally relate to the main character. If you've never been choking due to a blocked tracheostomy tube, you won’t appreciate how interesting such moments can be. Anyway, the main reason for giving four stars was that I had fun all along. I could have done without some scenes that were filmed just to play on the viewer’s emotions, though.

After the first fifteen minutes, I thought I would boo the film, but then I turned off my logical thinking and realized that the filmmakers just wanted to have some fun. The moment I gave up on my expectations of logical continuity, the film started working surprisingly well. I could just chill and actually ended up having a pretty good time. Let me sum it up: it was terrible but entertaining. 3*+

I had an unexpectedly good time watching it. Even though it was more of an intimate film heavy on dialogue, I wasn't bored at all. The best thing about this film were definitely the costumes, the creators did an excellent job with them. I can't help feeling that the plot was too condensed. I feel that the given time period deserved a bit more space. Two episodes were obviously not enough, hence the short and hasty ending. Otherwise, a very decent TV film. 4*-

I was only half satisfied. The film’s biggest problem was that all the characters were so negative that I didn’t care what would happen to them. That is, if it was to be something bad. The ending fell totally flat, which is a shame, the premise had a decent potential and deserved a better execution.
