Christmas in Conway (2013) (film telewizyjny)

angielski Nice, human, inoffensive. Now add a life story with actors who are a joy to watch. American TV dramas are mostly boring hogwash, but this movie seemed like it was telling the story of someone, for example, in your neighborhood.

Słynna Bettie Page (2005)

angielski A stylish classic that is black and white when it needs to be and then in color when they begin to sell color TVs in America; all so that we could imagine how Bettie could drive people wild in black and white and later in color, too. The story is certainly interesting, but only to watch once. It’s the same as what they said about Bettie when she stopped being interesting: it was good when she came up with nudity, but then nobody cared two hoots about her since her successors were even tougher.

Jag etter vind (2013)

angielski A somewhat atypical Scandinavian combination of drama and comedy where the lead role is played by the very pretty and pleasant Maria Blokhus, who brightens the whole story in an incredible way.

Veni, vidi, vici (2009) śmieć!

angielski I haven’t seen the entire movie, but even that was enough to make it clear to me that everything that happens in the movie is more of an annoyance than a benefit. The script is based on situations, people and moments that annoy the hell out of us rather than entertain us. And to base the whole movie on it?

Pole minowe (2015)

angielski War movies can still surprise me by their story. Under sandet is one of those surprises. It’s a story from Denmark about what happened after the end of WWII. I wouldn’t have thought that the Germans would be disarming anti-personnel mines on the beaches, just like I wouldn’t have thought that I’ll form any sort of connection with those 15-year-old German boys. But both ended up to be true and this has made the movie into an incredible experience. Plus, I’ll be sure to remember to be interested in Roland Møller’s movies in the future.

High School Musical (2006) (film telewizyjny) śmieć!

angielski A movie that’s accurately depicting the difference between the American and the European pop culture. What is celebrated and beloved in America can be despised and ridiculed in Europe.

Chinatown (1974)

angielski The peak of 1970s grim noir crime investigation with the grand Jack Nicholson, who – apart from delivering a standard high-quality performance – can also add another notch in his belt representing more actresses in his favorite bed. Apart from the amazing Jack and the gloomy atmosphere, it’s a standard film noir.

Jak dogonić szczęście (2014)

angielski I like movies where the main character runs away from his life by traveling. Luckily, a few movies like this have appeared in the last few years and so it seemed like Hector and the Search for Happiness didn’t have to turn out disappointing. But it did. The actors were great. Simon Pegg, Rosamunde Pike or Jean Reno have taken this one level higher. But the search for happiness itself was worse. The movie has put two different approaches on trial. One is a search for power, other one for happiness and the little things in life. But the examples, be it Asia or Africa, were put together so awkwardly that instead of enjoying a genuinely honest movie, I was frustrated, because the movie just wasn’t genuinely honest. And no matter how hard the charming Simon Pegg tried, he couldn’t fix my mood.

Flukt (2012)

angielski It’s nice that the Norwegians tried to shoot a medieval movie full of pseudo-Vikings involving their gorgeous nature. But for that to work, the leads shouldn’t have been some psychos and a girl who roams around the screen just as aimlessly as one of the thousand clouds on the gloomy sky.

Legion samobójców (2016)

angielski I probably don’t even have to mention that I was really looking forward to Suicide Squad. After the ghost town that the cinema has been these last few months, this movie was exactly the one standing out from the rest of the new releases. And the trailer’s made it look kickass. I’ll admit that my expectations were similar to Watchmen – a politically incorrect comic movie that swims against the tide. But it would have to be a completely different movie for that to be true. Let’s start with the upside which were definitely the actors. Suicide Squad is – as expected – an interesting gang and they’re hard not to love. Jared Leto is absolutely amazing as Joker, perhaps the scariest Joker in all of movie history. But the issue is that he’s barely in the movie at all. Now to get into the downsides, the movie doesn’t come up with a story that’s innovative in any way and it tells it very awkwardly. The first third is an episodic introduction of the individual characters. The second third is an introduction of an alien entity the Squad will be up against. And the last third is one big team fight. You won’t be able to find any deeper meaning there. However, the action shots are pretty solid. The director David Ayer has not filmed such scenes for the first time. But after watching this, I felt as if I’ve just finished watching another completely ordinary comic movie that are thick on the ground lately. Or maybe my expectations were too high. So that’s why I’m giving it three stars. Oh and the soundtrack may be nice, but it sounds so forced that it doesn’t even end up fitting in.
