El mundo es nuestro (2012)

angielski I feel as if the contemporary Spanish movies norm was a gabby comedy that showcases the typical Spaniard who keeps yapping and yapping. He throws a little bit of dry humor here and there about the lack of jobs and keeps on yapping. If anything, he’s kinda good at the yapping, actually. And when the humor comes in, it’s not bad at all.

Bogowie (2014)

angielski Recently, the Polish have been doing wonders with their biographical dramas. Not only did the Gods offer a high-quality story, but the creators also offered it with great acting performances, solid background music and excellent technical adaptation the likes of peak European cinematography. Hats off!

Parking (2014)

angielski The person who came up with the story for this movie is, in my opinion, a genius. In the story, two completely different characters meet and any confrontation is rewarded with absolutely great dialogues. And when there’s no talking in the movie anymore, a lot happens for a change. And the best part of it all is that a lot of ambiguity is suddenly explained to the viewer, so not a single minute goes to waste. Just an endless amazement at every other scene that slowly but surely opens windows to the souls of two diverse people looking for a piece of happiness in their lives. As for me, it was one of the greatest movie experiences of the last few years. The Hungarians have truly scored. Thanks to the user Enšpígl for the recommendation.

Mrs. Harris (2005) (film telewizyjny)

angielski Half-documentary, half-movie. At times, it seems like a psychological drama with the amazing Annette Bening and the standardly solid Ben Kingsley, only for the movie to suddenly become a documentary. It was on the path of becoming great, but ended up mediocre.

Ekipa (2015)

angielski When you’re watching something out of context, it’s hard to get into it. However, a mere hour and a half was enough for me to know that I don’t wanna watch the show. The ending at the Golden Globes is, however, really nice and once again, it shows how Hollywood’s able to poke fun at itself.

Generał Nil (2009)

angielski The Polish had started to feel confident enough to start making historical biographical stories; and they’re great at it. But with General Nil, I had a bit of an issue with the flashbacks and flashfowards and so I felt quite lost. But in the end, I got the point of it all and I was even a bit surprised. Well, I wasn’t, I was just assured that the 1950s were disgusting not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Poland.

Fúsi (2015)

angielski A great Icelandic drama; I felt bad for Fúsi the entire hour and a half. But he has sort of brought all of the misfortune on himself by not communicating with the people around him and by not expressing his feelings and emotions. On the other hand, I tried to push him – with my eyes at least – to some sort of actions and some really did appear in the movie. You can judge for yourself if there was any point to them, but I personally think that Fúsi will stay in my heart for a while, just like the actor who played him so brilliantly.

Taka fajna jak ja (2013)

angielski One American girl doesn’t know what to do with her life, so she tries, risks and hazards with her life like almost every other American girl – with sex. The movie wasn’t special in any way, but it was a nice way to pass time.

Hell on the Battleground (1987)

angielski “Do you shed your fur, little rabbit? The rabbit said no and so he took him and wiped his ass with him” – paraphrased from a dialogue between a male and a female soldier after a nerve-wrecking battle. Thanks to the user Enšpígl for letting me see and experience this movie.

Hold-Up (1985)

angielski The standardly amazing Belmondo in a not-so-standard French comedy with a solid American feel that drowns the otherwise amazing French fun.
