The film deals with the exceptional marriage between Knut Hamsun, the Norwegian writer and Nobelprize-winner, and Marie, who gave up everything to be by his side. Hamsun's mysterious fortunes - the fall from a national poet to a betrayer of his country - has fascinated many people. The drama is on two levels; on one hand the top-level politics and on the other the private, where husband and wife unites when it's almost too late. The film focuses on the last sixteen years of Hamsun's life. (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)
