I’m familiar with David Suchet as Hercule Poirot, though I don’t watch him regularly. But when what’s arguably Agatha Christie’s most famous mystery was on at midnight, I decided to give it a shot. Turns out, it didn’t matter that I’m not a regular viewer. Philip Martin directed this brilliantly. The story itself is genius, but Suchet’s performance elevates it even more, along with the icy, dark atmosphere that sets the perfect tone. And trust me, you won’t be guessing "the gardener did it." Suchet’s chilling look in the final scene will stick with me for a long time.
