Małgorzata Szumowska

Malgosia Szumowska, born in 1973, studied film direction at the Polish National Film School (PWSFTViT) in Lodz. While still a student, her films were presented at special screenings during the festival in Cannes and in official selection Cinefondation. Her documentary film SILENCE received awards at festivals in Tel Aviv, Bologna, Angers and in Mexico. SILENCE was selected as one of the 14 best films in the history of the Lodz Film Academy. Szumowska's HAPPY MAN was nominated for the Felix, the European Film Award for the best debut, and received a special award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival. Her Second film ONO was also nominated for European Film Awards and was presented in Sundance and Berlinale Panorama Special.
