Małgorzata Szumowska

Małgorzata Szumowska debuted behind the camera with Szczesliwy czlowiek (Happy Man, 2000), nominated for the European Film Awards in the European Discovery category. In 2004 her film Ono was presented at the Sundance Festival and with 33 sceny z zycia (33 Scenes from Life, 2008), included by the San Sebastian Festival in its Eastern Promises retrospective (2014), she received the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Festival. She later directed Elles (2011), and W imie... (In the Name Of, 2013), winner of the Teddy Award at the Berlin Festival. In 2015, the German event gave her the Best Director Silver Bear for Cialo (Body) and in 2018 distinguished Twarz (Mug) with the Jury Grand Prix. In 2014 she was a member of the New Directors Jury at San Sebastian.
