Po konflikcie nuklearnym Ameryka opustoszała. Przeżyli nieliczni. Jedną z ocalałych jest szesnastoletnia Ann. Błąka się z przygarniętym psem po opustoszałych miasteczkach usiłując przetrwać. Pewnego dnia spotyka czarnoskórego Loomisa. Postanawiają osiedlić się w jakimś opustoszałym domu i spróbować uprawiać ziemię. Znajdują dom, reperują maszyny, urządzają się i żyją. Wspólna praca i świadomość że mogą liczyć tylko na siebie rodzi uczucie. Ann i Loomis są szczęśliwi… Nagle pewnego pogodnego dnia w ich życiu pojawia się ten trzeci… Caleb, i nic już nie będzie tak proste jak dotąd. (Cineman)

A polite and sweet movie with polite conflicts. An untraditional plot for a post-catastrophic movie - a beautiful girl in a cabin in the mountains who is visited first by a black, then by a white man. When I began to tell the story to a friend of mine, he thought I was describing the intro to a porn movie... For Christ’s sake. :D Very powerful in terms of acting, Margot Robbie fantastic, like a dream girl, and both gentlemen put on a good performance. It ends leaving you a lot to think about, a beautiful reflection on our times. A conflict of science and faith.

An interesting post apocalyptic relationship drama where Margot Robbie acts as if for dear life and the director makes do with a minimalist atmosphere, a few shots of wooded mountains, and a script that has a lot to offer and thankfully doesn't half-ass any of its plot premises. This approach to the viewer is not usual and is certainly worth appreciating. Pity about the slower pace and a few unnecessarily dead passages.

I like that in this case, the disaster movie is approached as a very dramatic romance that leads to an ending that simply cannot be beautiful, but at the same time, the film is conceived as quite original and there are ideas that will surprise you. Well, I quite like dark romances and this particular dark romance isn't that bad.
